What is it?

Dandruff is a prevalent skin issue that mainly affects the scalp, leading to the shedding of white flakes of dead skin from the scalp onto the shoulders. Patients with dandruff often experience itching to go along with this shedding.

Various factors contribute to dandruff, including dry skin, reaction to hair care products, insufficient shampooing and a yeast-like fungus known as Malassezia. Dandruff generally impacts adults and is more prevalent in males than females.
