Rosacea

Rosacea is a common, long-term skin condition that causes redness and bumps on the nose, cheeks and forehead.

What is it?

Rosacea is a long-lasting skin inflammation that often presents as red skin or a rash. It's most common in adults of middle age and older, especially those with light skin. Some patients mistake rosacea as acne, an allergic response, or eczema due to their similar symptoms.

Rosacea characteristically presents as small, red, pus-filled bumps on the cheeks, nose, forehead and occasionally the eyes. Its symptoms can include facial swelling, dry and peeling skin, visible broken blood vessels, an enlarged nose or persistent redness of the skin.

Our team is well-versed in treating rosacea and can help you find a custom treatment plan to manage your symptoms. We have offices in Batavia, Beavercreek, Bridgetown, Cincinnati, Dayton, Dent, Greenville, Hillsboro, Kettering, Mason, Montgomery, Oxford, Troy, West Chester and Wilmington, Ohio.

How is it treated?

While there isn't a complete solution for rosacea, our board-certified providers can help manage the symptoms effectively. We offer various treatments like topical medications, oral antibiotics, light therapy and laser therapy.  In addition to finding the right treatment for you, the team at Dermatologists of Southwest Ohio can help you pinpoint the triggers behind your rosacea flare-ups. Understanding your triggers can significantly reduce the frequency and intensity of your symptoms.
